The Bruery 2 Turtle Doves

Belgian Strong Dark Ale

The Bruery, Placentia, California, USA

I RATE THIS BEER: 92

RELEASE: Special One-off Production // THE ABV. 12.0% | IBU’s. ? // THE NOSE: Cappuccino, Chocolate Syrup, Chicory, Roasted Almond, Oak Barrel, Port Wine // THE TASTE: Dates, Black Cherry Jam, Dried Apricot, Marzipan, Walnut, Dry Roasted Peanut // THE BOTTOMLINE: This colossal but eloquent winter special is luxurious, shadowy and muscular. The Bruery claims this ale is suitable for cellaring for up to a decade - one sip and you will believe them. The flavors of concentrated jet black coffee, bitter cocoa, juicy red fruit and chocolate ganache mingle, fuse and dance on the palate. The oily texture and earthiness of a thick peanut butter hangs politely in the background. Imbibing this superior beer at anything other than a snails pace and in measured pours seems criminal. Try cellaring a bottle for a few years; this can only get more sophisticated with age. // THE BACKBONE: Cocoa Nibs, Toasted Pecans // PRICE POINT: $13 | 1x 26oz bottle //
